Literature review of acupoint selection on tension-type headache treated with acupuncture

Abstract:

Literature review was conducted by searching clinical papers on acupuncture treating tension-type headache from June 2009 to June 2018 in CNKI with " needling" , " acupuncture" , and " tension-type headache" as key words, and 64 papers were included. Artificial statistics method was applied to count the acupoints used in the selected literature. The frequencies of the main points, the combined points, channel tropism and body parts for point selection were calculated, and the rules of selecting points were further analyzed. The results showed that the acupuncture points used in acupuncture treatment for tension-type headache were point GV20 (Baihui), point GB20 (Fengchi), point EX-HN5 (Taiyang), point LR3(Taichong), point ST8 (Touwei), point GV29 (Yintang), point LI4 (Hegu), etc. The meridians were mainly concentrated in the Gallbladder Meridian of Foot-Shaoyang, Du Meridian, Stomach Meridian of Foot-Yangming, Bladder Meridian of Foot-Taiyang; the acupuncture points were mainly concentrated in the head and limbs.
