Clinical experience of acupuncture combined with moxibustion and cupping treatment for restless legs syndrome

Abstract:

Restless legs syndrome （RLS） is a common clinical disease. Because it usually outbreaks or becomes worse at night，this disease seriously influences the life quality of patients.The RLS is classified as “bi syndrome” in traditional Chinese medicine. RLS is usually caused by exogenous evils invasion，when qi，blood deficient and nutrient qi and inharmonious of defensive qi.Therefore， increasing the qi and blood， warming and dredging meridian and vessels are necessary therapies.As a unique therapy in traditional Chinese medicine， acupuncture， moxibustion and cupping can activate collaterals， nourishing qi， warming yang and expel cold， which has significant effect for treatment of RLS. Compared with the Western medicine therapy， acupuncture， moxibustion and cupping is simple and convenient， and less adverse reaction， which is worthy of popularization in clinical in the treatment of RLS.
