Clinical research progress on treating gout using traditional Chinese medicine

Abstract:

Gout is a kind of disease，which is caused by accumulation of uric acid（UA）due to the reduced emissions of UA and purine dysbolism.The clinical symptoms are characterized by hyperuricemia，acute arthritis and the formation of uric acid stones.What is worse，it can lead to joint deformity，joint dysfunction or gouty nephropathy.Aiming different clinical symptoms of gout，traditional Chinese medicine（TCM）has remarkable advantages in the treatment of gout.There are certain clinical effects on gout by oral administration and external application of Chinese medicine and/or acupuncture therapy.According to different stages of diseases，the dialectical treatment should be used flexibly.The combination of various methods of treatment can enhance the efficacy，shorten the duration of disease and reduce the severity of disease.TCM has the advantages of low toxicity and few adverse reactions in the treatment of gout.
