Abstract:

Objective

To observe the effect of acupoint application combined with tuina to improve the back pain of shooting and archery athletes.

Methods

A total of 60 athletes with low back pain in archers and shooters from May 2021 to October 2021 were selected from Shanghai Shooting and Archery Sport Center.Sixty athletes with low back pain in shooting and archery were randomly divided into a treatment group (acupoint application combined with massage) and a control group (massage group), with 30 cases in each group. The efficacy was evaluated before and 4 weeks after treatment according to the McGill pain questionnaire (MPQ) score, the Japanese orthopaedic association evaluation treatment score (JOA) score and tenderness threshold.

Results

(1)The MPQ scores of the treatment group and the control group were significantly different after 4 weeks of treatment (t=-4.608, P<0.05). (2) There was significant difference in JOA scores between the treatment group and the control group after 4 weeks of treatment (t=2.16, P<0.05). (3) After 4 weeks of treatment, the difference of tenderness threshold between the treatment group and the control group was statistically significant (t=3.656, P<0.05). During the study, the athletes did not have adverse reactions.

Conclusion

Acupoint application combined with massage can significantly improve the symptoms of back pain in shooting and archery athletes, which is worthy of clinical promotion and application.
