Wuxin points are widely used by Professor Wu Lianzhong who works in the First Teaching Hospital of Tianjin University of Traditional Chinese Medicine.Professor Wu uses them to treat insomnia, hysteria and other mental diseases.He emphasizes the importance of holistic adjustment based on ruling " Shen" for different diseases.Wuxin points refer to five points-point DU26(Ren zhong), point PC8(Lao gong) and point KI1(Yong quan), which are respectively located in the center of the face, palms and feet.Their mechanism is not simply limited to regulate the narrow sense of " Shen" . They regulate Qi and blood on the basis on acupuncture, and regulate " Shen" by deepening the internal contact and interaction between " Shen" and brain, heart, blood, kidney and governor meridian.The purpose of this paper is to explain the meaning of " Shen" , to introduce the clinical application and the mechanism of Wuxin points, and to emphasize the important role of " Shen" in the treatment of diseases.
