Weixian Liang, Lichao Zhao, Lianzhong Wu, Shuqiang Ding. Professor Wu Lianzhong's views on needling sensations of “rushing,moving,pumping”[J/OL]. Chinese Journal of Acupuncture and Moxibustion(Electronic Edition), 2021, 10(02): 51-53.
Professor Wu Lianzhong put forward new views on ten types of needling sensations:soreness, numbness, heaviness, swelling, pain, coldness, heat, rushing, moving, and pumping, and particularly emphasized the sensations of “rushing, moving, and pumping"."Rushing” refers to the senses of fast running and radiating, that is, after acupuncture, the patient feels that there is the radiation and darting of channel qi from the needling position to the corresponding part; “moving” means movement, which is a sense of the movement of patient's body parts, joints or muscles stimulated by needling; “pumping” refers to contraction, that is,the sense of movement in one direction, and the durationmay be various. After repeated clinical verifications, Professor Wu found that the needling sensations of “rushing, moving, and pumping"were important factors in the treatment of certain nerve or muscle movement disorders, sensory disorders or mental disorders. Special acupuncture techniques could stimulate the senses of “rushing, moving, and pumping” on specific acupoints, which could lead to the channeling of the meridian and spirit qi, so as to achieve the goal of balancing the body's yin and yang. This article systematically discusses the quantitative standards, working principles, concepts, indications, specific operations, and manipulations of replenishing and reducing on the needling sensations of “rushing, moving, and pumping", and provides ideas and methods for the treatment of clinically related diseases.
