Abstract:

Objective

To observe the clinical therapeutic effect of the syndrome differentiation acupuncture therapy combined with facial muscle movement in treatment of infantile peripheral facial paralysis.

Methods

80 cases of peripheral facial paralysis were selected from the pediatric rehabilitation clinic of the First People's Hospital of Jining,Shandong province from August 2010 to March 2014.According to random number table method they were randomly divided into treatment group and control group.Treatment group was treated by syndrome differentiation acupuncture therapy combined with facial movement, while control group adopted comprehensive rehabilitation treatment. There were continuous four courses of treatment,10 days for a treatment. After treatment, the facial nerve function evaluation grading system was used to evaluate the efficacy of the two groups.

Results

In the treatment group,29 cases were cured and 6 cases showed remarkable effect,3 were effective and 2 cases were ineffective, and the total effective rate was 95%(38/40).In the control group,19 cases were cured,7 were developed,4 were effective,10 were ineffective, and the total effective rate was 75%(30/40).By the comparison of the total effective rate between the two groups, difference was statistically significant(χ2=7.684,P<0.05).The average treatment time of the treatment group was(20.6±3.8)d,and the control group(28.2±4.3)d.The average treatment time of the two groups was compared, and the difference was statistically significant(t=3.765,P<0.05).

Conclusion

The clinical application of the syndrome differentiation acupuncture therapy combined with facial motion in treatment of infantile peripheral facial paralysis is effective and can be used in clinic.
