Abstract:

The acupuncture method of “Activating Blood and Dispersing Wind,Soothing Liver and Strengthening Spleen”,set up by academician Shi Xuemin in the 1970s,is not only an important part of the “Mr.Shi's Stroke Unit”,but also a breakthrough for the prevention and control of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases in traditional Chinese medicine.Academician Shi first put forward the pathogenesis of hypertension as “qihai disfunction, yingyun imbalance”,and based on the theory of “qihai”,heselected points including point ST9(Renying),point LI11(Quchi),point LI4(Hegu),point ST36(Zusanli)and point LR3(Taichong),with the explicitly stipulated manipulation metrology standard at the same time, which have the function in"regulating qihai, activating blood and dispersing wind, harmonizing liver and spleen".The method of acupuncture pays attention to the specificity of acupoint effects and also the characteristics of anatomy in the compatibility of points, which is effective and safe in clinic. Therefore, the acupuncture method of “Activating blood and Dispersing Wind,Soothing Liver and Strengthening Spleen” has become a preferred and international advocated anti-hypertensive alternative therapy with high quality at present.
