Clinical studies on acupuncture treatment in treating primary hypertension

Abstract:

Objective

To explore the effect and safety of acupuncture in the treatment of primary hypertension.

Methods

One hundred and thirty-five patients with primary hypertension were included in this study,78were male and 57female.Patients were collected from 2012March to 2013 September in Wuqing District Hospital of traditional Chinese medicine,with mean age(54.69±13.92)years old and average course(2.83±1.16)years.The acupuncture treatment started after one week of drug washout period.The therapeutic effect was evaluated after 90days of treatment.

Results

The acupuncture treatment for primary hypertension is safe and reliable and no adverse reaction.No related adverse events were found during the treatment.Eighty-three patients(63.8%)were cured after treatment,effective 29(22.3%),invalid 18(13.8%),and the total effective rate was 86.2%(112/130).

Conclusion

Acupuncture treatment is safe and effective in treating primary hypertension.
