Abstract:

Academician Shi Xuemin,a master of traditional Chinese medicine, proposed that the etiology and pathogenesis of dysphagia after stroke is “ blockage of orifices, concealment of the spirit, spirit failing to guide qi,and obstruction of the passages and orifices".He put forward the treatment principle of"regulating the spirit to guide qi,nourishing the three-yin meridians, unblocking passages and opening orifices”,and established the acupuncture method of “Tongguan Liqiao” which has shown remarkable clinical efficacy.Professor Du Yuzheng studied under Academician Shi Xuemin. In his long-term practice,he has deeply understood the subtlety of the “Tongguan Liqiao” acupuncture method and further developed it.He proposed a personalized treatment for different pathological stages of dysphagia patients. This paper introduces Professor Du Yuzheng′s inheritance and innovation of the “Tongguan Liqiao” acupuncture method, provides a reference for improving the clinical efficacy of acupuncture in treating dysphagia, and promotes the popularization and application of acupuncture in treating dysphagia.
