Professor Ji Laixi′s clinical experience of the New Nine-Needle therapy

Abstract:

The New Nine-Needle therapy is a general term of acupuncture tools and techniques with unique Shanxi regional characteristics.Professor Ji Laixi,a renowned Traditional Chinese Medicine doctor nationwide,has adhered to the concept of upholding integrity and innovation.Based on the Shanxi New Nine-Needles,he has inherited and innovated,forming the academic thought of “combined treatment,integration of Chinese and Western medicine” and characteristic acupuncture techniques that are in line with clinical practice.This paper reviews the historical origins of the New Nine-Needle therapy and Professor Ji Laixi′s inheritance and development of them,and details three unique acupuncture techniques: the “Piriformis Muscle Needling Technique”,the “Needling Technique from Zhibian (BL 54) to Shuidao (ST 28)”,and the “Deep Needling Technique of the Baliao Points”,so as to demonstrate Professor Ji Laixi′s profound understanding and practical achievements in the application of the New Nine-Needles.In addition,one verified case is attached to show case the definite curative effect of the characteristic acupuncture techniques of the New Nine-Needles in actual clinical treatment.
