Abstract:

Post-stroke depression, one of the common complications of stroke, not only affects the quality of patients'life, but also hinders the recovery of neurological function. There are many scales for the evaluation of post-stroke depression and each of them has its applicability. However,up to now, there has not been an accepted standard for the evaluation of post-stroke depression. This paper analyzes the advantages and disadvantages of the commonly used scales for the evaluation of post-stroke depression to help form a standardized evaluation system and make the research more standardized, rigorous and scientific. The analysis finds that Hamilton Depression Rating Scale for Depression was most widely used, but the scales of cognitive function, life quality and adverse events were rarely applied. The authors suggest applying multi-scales with different aspects in evaluation;they recommend using Hamilton Depression Rating Scale for Depression as the primary choice in evaluation of depression status;they also believe it is essential to introduce the scale of adverse events in the clinical research.
