Abstract:
Objective
To observe the clinical efficacy of acupuncture and moxibustion combined with bixiefenqing decoction for patients with benign prostatic hyperplasia(BPH).
Methods
Fifty-three BPH patients were treated by acupuncture and moxibustion combined with bixiefenqing decoction for 2 course,10 times a course,once daily,totally 20 times. Zhongji(RN 3),Guanyuan(RN 4),Shuidao(ST 28),Guilai(ST 29),Sanyinjiao(SP 6)and Ciliao(BL 32)were selected for acupuncture and moxibustion. On the basis of these acupoints,Shenshu(BL 23),Qihai(RN 6)and Taixi(KI 3)were used for patients with deficiency of Kidney-Qi; Taichong(LR 3)and Xingjian(LR 2)were used for patients with Dampness-Heat in Liver and Gall Bladder; Xuehai(SP 10)was used for patients with blood stasis. Therapeutic effects were evaluated by international prostate symptom score(IPSS).
Results
After two courses of treatment,there was significant symptom relief in BPH patients including the feeling of incomplete bladder emptying,frequent urination,interrupted urine flow,urinary urgency,thin urinary stream and voiding difficulty and nocturia decreased significantly. The total effective rate was 90.57%(48/53),in which 20 cases showed effective results,28 cases showed excellent result and 5 cases showed ineffective results.
Conclusion
Acupuncture and moxibustion combined with bixiefenqing decoction showed significant effect in patients with BPH.
