Advance on treating postmenopausal osteoporosis by acupuncture and moxibustion

Abstract

Abstract:

Postmenopausal women with estrogen levels declining，bone loss speeding，prone to osteoporosis.It affects physical and mental health and quality of life seriously.At present western medicine mainly includes double phosphonic acid salt，selective estrogen receptor modulators，calcitonin and calcium preparations，etc.，which have achieved good clinical curative effect，but some potential complications and side effects are also highlighted.Acupuncture and moxibustion therapy is the national medical treasure，which has the advantages of safety，efficiency，pro-environment，economy and long-term application.According to the use of acupuncture in the treatment of this disease in recent ten years，we find that the comprehensive treatment including acupuncture needling，electro-acupuncture，warm acupuncture，moxibustion and the combination of acupuncture and drugs has a good efficacy，and point out some problems of acupuncture treatment therapy for this disease and future research directions.
