Professor Cheng Yan′s clinical experience in children′s chronic cough treated with Baike decoction

Abstract:

Cough is a common symptom in children, and the chronic cough often needs repeated medical treatment since causes are diverse and difficult to be cured, which brings great life and economic troubles to children and their parents.Professor Cheng Yan specializes in the therapy of chronic cough by combination of traditional Chinese and Western medicine. Advocating that Western medicine to distinguish the causes of cough and traditional Chinese medicine to distinguish the symptoms of cough, and uses the combination to improve the clinical efficacy of children′s chronic cough. She formulated Baike decoction with her years of clinical experience to treat children′s chronic cough according to the symptoms, which has remarkable curative effects. Based on the combination of disease and syndrome, syndrome differentiation and treatment, Professor Cheng Yan attaches importance to the" holistic view" , emphasizing that attention should be paid to the adjustment of lung and spleen function, especially the function of spleen and stomach during the recovery period of chronic cough, so as to strengthen healthy qi and prevent the recurrence of cough.
