Brief analysis on moxibustion in treating premature ovarian failure

Abstract:

Objective

To summarize the application of moxibustion in the treatment of premature ovarian failure (POF) in ancient and modern literatures, and to provide reference for clinical practice.

Methods

Through retrieving CNKI, China Info, VIP and PubMed, modern literature on cupuncture for POF was collected, and through retrieving ancient books is mainly based on General Catalogue of Ancient Chinese Medicine Books, gynecological literature and acupuncture literature recommended by Chinese Medicine Philology regarding the rule of acupoint selection to meridian and moxibustion, etc.

Results

Finally obtained 23 modern literature, 11 ancient books.Modern literature on moxibustion treatment sites mainly focused on lumbosacral, back, lower abdomen and lower extremities, while ancient literature mainly focused on the whole abdomen, lower limbs, sacral and upper extremities.Involves the meridians of the modern literature mainly in Ren meridian, Du meridian, foot-TaiYang and foot-TaiYin, ancient literature has the three Yin meridian of foot , three Yang meridians of foot , Ren meridian , Du meridian, hand ShaoYin and hand-Yang Ming, the modern literature with significantly less than the ancient cave range, and modern find Yang meridians, and instead of Yin meridians bullish in ancient books.

Conclusion

Other therapies combined with moxibustion in the treatment of premature ovarian failure (POF) have certain clinical efficacy, but the research on its mechanism of action is limited, and there is a lack of multi-center and multi-study large-scale clinical studies.
