Abstract:

Intractable hiccups is a kind of common and frequent diseases in clinic.Through consulting a large number of the literature of intractable hiccups in recent years, pathogenesis and new progress of traditional Chinese medicine treatment are summarized. The pathogenesis is confirmed as stomach Qi upward reversal impacting diaphragm in traditional Chinese medicine, which belongs to diaphragmatic spasm in modern medicine.Persistent hiccups impacts substantially on the patients' normal life and reduces the quality of life, even increases patients' psychological burdenand therefore leads to some mental illness. So timely intervention and treatment is particularly important.Research found that compared with modern medicine, the advantage of traditional Chinese medicine therapy is faster working with better curative effect and less adverse reaction. Four kinds of Chinese medicine therapy are stated, including traditional Chinese medicine, acupuncture, combined treatment and other treatments, which accumulates experience for clinical treatment of intractable hiccups in the future.
