Abstract:

The main cause of knee osteoarthritis （KOA） is cartilage degeneration in the joints and pathogenic factors are diverse. According to relevant studies， the prevalence rate of people over 60 is as high as 42.8%， which has certain impact on both individuals and society. Western medicine has no satisfactory treatment at present， while traditional Chinese therapies， such as acupuncture， fire needle， cupping jar，warming moxibustion etc.， all have good curative effect. Fire needle has been developed for thousands of years， which plays a prominent role in the treatment of pain syndrome and skin diseases etc. In order to explore the efficacy of fire needle， literature on the treatment of KOA in recent 10 years is consulted and found that fire needle is really effective in treating the disease. As fire needle and fire needle combined with other therapies are respectively summarized， a conclusion is drawn that fire acupuncture is safe， economical and effective in the treatment of KOA， which provides an effective reference for the clinical treatment.
