Abstract:

Hypertension is not only the main cause of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular death in China, but also has become the primary risk factor of global disease burden.Academician Shi Xuemin thinks that it is very important to reduce the damage of target organs together with complications and to improve prognosis, while effectively controlling the blood pressure at the same time. The acupuncture method of"Huoxue Sanfeng,Shugan Jianpi"(activating blood and dispersing wind, soothing liver and strengthening spleen)is a great newcontribution of Academician Shi Xuemin after the"Xingnao Kaiqiao"(consciousness-restoring resuscitation)acupuncture method. It has the characteristics of novel theory and convenient acupoint selection, and also has a clear normative metrology standard and dose-effect relationship, which is helpful for application and popularization. The acupuncture method in the clinical application can effectively reduce blood pressure, improve blood pressure variabilityand regulate the blood pressure rhythm, thus it can gradually reduce the antihypertensive drugsand improve endothelial function, and as a result, reduce target organ damage. However, more basic research needs to be carried out in large sample of multicenter randomized controlled trials to verify the efficacy.
