Abstract:

Objective

To investigate therapeutic effects of acupoint embedding protein line therapy for improving motor function in children with cerebral palsy.

Methods

Sixty patients met the inclusion criteria of cerebral palsy were randomly divided into treatment group, control group and treatment group according to the time of treatment and gender. The implant protein line plus comprehensive rehabilitation therapy was used in treatment group for 3 months. The only comprehensive rehabilitation treatment was used in control group. The gross motor function measure (GMFM)was evaluated before and after treatment in groups of children.Packet χ 2-Test and t test were performed by SPSS10.0 statistical software. Significant differences were taken when P<0.05.

Results

There were 14 case scured, 15 improved and1 invalid, the total efficiency rate was of 96.0% (29/30) in treatment group. For control group, marked effective was found in 9 cases, effective in 16 cases and no effective in 5 cases. The total efficiency rate was 83.3% (25/30). The total effective rate was higher in treatment group than that of control group, but no significan diffidence was found between two groups (χ2=7.008,P>0.05). GMFM scores were (38.49±4.81) and (27.35±4.66) for treatment group and control group. There was significant difference in GMFM score between two groups after treatment (P<0.05).

Conclusion

Acupoint catgut embedding therapy has certain promoting effect on motor function recovery in children with cerebral palsy.
