Abstract:
Objective
To investigate the effectiveness of tongue acupuncture treatment for dribbling in children with cerebral palsy.
Methods
A total of 116 children with cerebral palsy were randomly divided into treatment group (56 cases) and control group (60 cases) according to teacher-dribbling-scale(TDS).The two groups were operated the same methods of rehabilitation, at the same time, treatment group was added the tongue acupuncture. Before and after three courses of treatment, TDS was used to evaluate the dribbling grade. The efficiency was compared before and after the treatment by Pearson χ2 test.TDS grade was compared before and after treatment using Fisher’s exact test.P<0.05 wes considered statistically significant.
Results
The total effective rate was 78.57%(44/56) in treatment group, and which was 60.00%(36/60) in control group. There was significant difference in effective rate between two groups(χ2 =4.668,P<0.05).TDS grade was statistically significant before and after treatment between two groups(χ2 =27.762 and 17.372, all P<0.05).
Conclusion
Tongue acupuncture can greatly increase treatment efficiency of dribbling, which is a effective clinical method and is worth popularizing.
