Abstract:
Objective
To observe the clinical efficacy of treating tension-type headache by scrapping based on myofascial-theory.
Methods
Sixty patients with chronic tension headache were collected in headache clinic of dongning first people’s hospital from October 2011 to June 2013, and were divided into the treatment group and control group, 30 cases in each group respectively according to the random number expression method. In the treatment group, there were 5 male and 25 female cases, with an average age of(42.73 ±8.30)years, average disease duration (4.80 ±1.20) years, and the average score of visual analogue scale(VAS) (5.26 ±0.87) points. In control group, there were 7 male and 23 female cases, with an average age of(42.26 ±8.70)years, average disease duration (4.60 ±1.00) years, and the average score of(5.13 ±0.89) points. The treatment group was treated by scrapping based on myofascial-theory and the control group was treated with traditional massage technique. After 8-week treatment, the curative effect was evaluated according to the disease diagnosis of traditional Chinese medicine efficacy standard.SPSS13.0 statistical software was used for data analysis.χ2 test was used for counting data, and a value of P<0.05 was considered statistically significant.
Results
After 8-week treatment, the cure rate were 73.33%(22/30) in the treatment group and 46.67%(14/30)in the control group. The total effective rates were 100%(30/30)in the treatment group and 73.33%(22/30)in the control group. There were significant differences in the cure rate and total effective rate between treatment group and control group (χ2 =4.44 and 7.07, all P<0.05).During 3-month follow-up,5 cases were lost,3 cases in treatment group and 2 cases in control group. The curative effect was reassessed after the follow-up.The cure rate were 55.56%(15/27)in the treatment group and 28.57%(8/28) in the control group. The total effective rates were 96.3%(26/27)in the treatment group and 57.14%(16/28) in the control group. There were significant differences in the cure rate and total effective rate between treatment group and control group(χ2 =12.00 and 11.68, all P<0.05).
Conclusion
The treatment of chronic tension-type headache by scrapping based on the theory of myofascial has significant clinical effects.
