Abstract:

Objective

To study the effect of different high-fat diets on hyperlipidemia in SD rat model.

Methods

The rat model of hyperlipidemia was established according? to the method described in reference. According to random number table,SD rats were divided into ordinary diet group(A)and highfat diet group(B~E). The high-fat diet group was further divided into B,C,D and E groups according to the different formulations(Ⅰ,Ⅱ,Ⅲand Ⅳ)of diet. The serum levels of total cholesterol(TC),triglyceride(TG),low density lipoprotein cholesterol(LDL-C)and high density lipoprotein cholesterol(HDL-C)were detected after 3 weeks. Data were analyzed with SPSS 13.0 software and expressed by(x±s). The singlefactor analysis of variance was used to compare the results between A,B,C,D and E groups. LSD-t test was used for comparison between the two groups. P<0.05 was considered statistically significant.

Results

The disorders in serum lipid metabolism were found in four kinds of formulations of high-fat diet groups.(1)The serum levels of TC were significantly higher in C,D and E groups compared with A group(P<0.01).The highest level of TC was in group C.(2)The serum levels of TG were significantly higher in B,C and E groups compared with A group(P<0.01),and the highest level of TG was in group C.(3)The serum levels of HDL-C were significantly lower in B,C and D groups compared with A group(P<0.01),and the lowest level of HDL-C was in group C.(4)The serum levels of LDL-C were significantly higher in B and C groups compared with A group(P<0.01). The serum levels of LDL-C were significantly higher in B,D and E groups compared with C group(P<0.01).

Conclusion The rat model was more successful in C group than that of A,B and D groups. The stable rat model of hyperlipidemia can be established after three weeks of high-fat diet in group C.
