Abstract:

In recent years, researchers have paid extensive attention to the role of acupuncture and moxibustion in the clinical prevention and treatment of mild cognitive impairment(MCI). Research findings on acupuncture and moxibustion in treating mild cognitive impairment have emerged one after another at home and abroad. Clinically, most of them adopt simple filiform acupuncture, electroacupuncture, warm acupuncture, ear acupuncture, milli-fire needle, moxibustion therapy, together with drug therapy and basic cognitive function training, which combined with auricular acupoint therapy, traditional Chinese medicine constitution identification, Wuxing and the Yu's scalp acupuncture etc., are easy to be accepted by patients due to their simple operation, obvious curative effects and no adverse reactions. Relevant animal experiments and clinical trials are further studied to review the clinical research and action mechanism of acupuncture in the treatment of MCI. Some clinical results show that acupuncture can greatly improve living quality of MCI patients. Mechanism of acupuncture in treating MCI is studied and corresponding solutions are proposed after summarizing the deficiencies in the existing literature.
