Recent research progresson the treatment of thalamic pain after stroke with acupuncture and moxibustion

Abstract:

Objective

To probe the current researches on the treatment of thalamic pain after stroke with acupuncture and moxibustion.

Methods

Clinical research literature on treatment of thalamic pain after stroke with acupuncture and moxibustion is retrieved through databases of Chinese national knowledge infrastructure(CNKI)(1997~2017),VIP database,Pubmed,Sci Verse Science Direct and Springer.Data of related literature were collected and sorted out to construct a database,and frequency analysis was applied to study in the design and outcomes of the researches.

Results

36 related papers are retrieved,and 24 of them meet the inclusion criteria after eliminating the papers with incomplete reviews and information,and the ones repeatedly published.There were various approaches of acupuncture and moxibustion to treat thalamic pain after stroke.The healing efficacy and security were well proved.In the research design,the lacking in inclusion criteria,characteristics of traditional Chinese medicine,outcome measure and follow-up needs improvement.

Conclusion

Results above can provide data support for drawing up clinical operating rules and further study in treatment of thalamic pain after stroke with acupuncture and moxibustion.
