Abstract:
Objective
To evaluate the effects of Ren Bao cheng’s "Feiyanxiao” decoction on promoting the recovery of infants pneumonia.
Methods
Eighty-three cases with pneumonia of Second Affiliated Hospital of Tianjin University of traditional Chinese medicine pediatric from November 2013 to March 2014 were selected and then randomly divided into Chinese medicine group (treatment group, n=42)and control group (n=41). The two groups were given conventional Western medicine treatment. The treatment group was given "Feiyanxiao” decoction in addition to the conventional treatment. Statistical method of SPSS14.0 software was used for data analysis. The measurement data was expressed as ±s ,The efficiency was compared using χ 2 test and t-test was used in the comparison between the two groups,Statistically significance was considered when P<0.05.
Results
Compared the clinical efficacy of the two groups,18 cases were cured, 22 cases were improved and 2 cases were ineffective in treatment group, the total effective rate was 95.24% (40/42); 17 cases were cured, 17 cases were improved and 7 cases were invalid, with effective rate of 83.33% (34/41) in control group. The clinical efficacy was much better in treatment group than that of control group (χ2 = 4.12, P<0.01). Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) syndrome was much better in treatment group (18 cases recovered, 17 cases improved and effective rate was 83.80%) compared with control group (10 cases cured, 17 cases improved and effective rate was 66.50%, χ2=17.97,P<0.05).
Conclusion
“Feiyanxiao” could significantly promote the recovery of infants pneumonia, including the improving difficult cough and expectoration, shortening the treatment course and improving the prognosis.Professor Ren Baocheng’ s clinical experience is worthy of promotion.
