Abstract:

Angiotensin Ⅱrelated receptor type 1 AT1 protein (APJ) is a newly discovered intravascular incidence peptide, apelin is its endogenous ligand.Apelin/APJ system is widely distributed in cardiovascular and neuroendocrine and other tissues and organs, which has biological effects including vasodilator, positive inotropic activity and promoting cell division. Many results have showed that apelin/APJ system can play an important role in regulating cardiovascular function, lowering blood pressure and promoting angiogenesis of circulation system, and also reducing the ischemic brain injury.Apelin/APJsystem participates in pathological and physiological process of hypertension, atherosclerosis and ischemic cerebrovascular diseases.

Key words: Apelin, APJ, Vasodilation, Positive inotropic, Cell division
