Abstract:

The theory of daqi has a long history, and the " sinking of daqi" theory of Zhang Xichun is the most classic one. After exploring the development, we realized that the connotation of daqi theory is more than the " sinking of daqi" theory. Many doctors and researchers have been wondering the essence idea of daqi theory. In this paper, we discussed the meaning of daqi theory in broad sense and in narrow sense, that is, the pectoral qi, lung qi and yang qi. We have elucidated diseases due to disorder of qi movement, and analyzed different clinical experience. In our opinion, the treatment strategy includes three aspects: refreshing daqi from harmonizing yin and yang, restoring daqi from regulating the ascending and descending, unobstructedness being the key of daqi regulation. In this research, we discussed the academic idea of daqi and aim to provide more comprehensive treating strategy for diseases due to disfunction of daqi.

Key words: Pectoral qi, Syndrome of reversed flow of qi, Syndrome of qi sinking, Qi stagnation syndrome
