Abstract:

Acupuncture has a significant effect on aphasia after stroke, one of the common complications of stroke. Besides body acupuncture, there are common treatments as scalp acupuncture, tongue acupuncture, training of language, combining with herbal medicine and physiotherapy. Scalp acupuncture may increase the blood flow of brain and promote the establishment of side branch circulation. Tongue acupuncture stimulates the tongue directly to promote the restoration of language. So are daily language trainings. Combining with herbal medicine can enhance the effect of needles and relieve fatigue of acupuncture. Modern treatments as electroacupuncture and repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation have a special effect on regulating excitability of cortex, the release of neurotransmitter and the nutrition of nervus. Clinical treatment usually combines these methods to promote the restoration of language functions together, because all of them can adjust the body′s vitality.
