Abstract:

Recently, the incidence of stroke-associated pneumonia(SAP) is high and rising rapidly. SAP extends the length of patients stay and increases the death rate, so effective prevention of SAP becomes a new focus. The pathogenesis of SAP is not yet clear, andrelated risk factors include immunosuppression, aspiration, dysphagia, diabetes, atrial fibrillation, mechanical ventilation, etc., among which immunosuppression is an important one. Modern medical research has confirmed that in the acute phase after stroke, patients have increasing susceptibility to infection, when a series of immunosuppressive changes have taken place in the body, Traditional Chinese medicine believes that the cause of stroke is " vital qi deficiency" , soafter stroke, with qi deficiency, the body cannot resist external pathogens. As a result, pathogenic factors assailing the lungs easily cause stroke-associated pneumonia. Yupingfeng powders, as a representative prescription for strengthening vital qi and consolidating superficies, has been proved that it can enhance immunity and restore the function of immune organs. This paper discussed the rationality of the application of Yupingfeng powders in the prevention of SAP.
