An exploration of Academician Shi Xuemin′s research ideas and methods based on the " consciousness-restoring resuscitation" acupuncture method

Abstract:

As one of the Masters of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Academician Shi Xuemin has not only made outstanding contributions to education and clinical practiceof traditional Chinese medicine, but has also demonstrated a unique vision and made new innovations in research. In a career in medicine spanning more than 50 years, he has made impressive contributions to the study of acupuncture. In this article, we take the example of consciousness-restoring resuscitation(Xingnao Kaiqiao) to analyze the profound ideas and methods of Professor Shi′s work, and draw the following four points from his experience: First, a basic requirement of research is to highlight the distinguishing features of each specific scientific research topic. Second, clinical practice is the fundamental basis for scientific research. Third, utilizing professional literature properly is the prerequisite of research. Finally, striving for innovative inventions is the inherent requirement for the development of scientific research.
