Abstract:
Objective This review aimed at assessing the effectiveness of tongue tri-points therapy on post-stroke pseudobulbar palsy by systematically analyzed randomized controlled trials(RCTs) and seeking help for clinic treatment.
Methods Searching databases from the internet: China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), Wan-Fang Database, Chinese Scientific Journal Database (VIP), PubMed, Cochrane. RCTs related to tongue tri-points therapy for post-stroke pseudobulbar palsy were included, and then Revman 5.3 software was used to assess the statistics, heterogeneity, bias, and sensitivity.
Results A total of 8 studies involving 667 patients were included. There were 344 patients in experiment group and 323 patients in control group. Compared with control group, the experiment group was superior in clinic efficiency, [OR=5.37; 95%CI: 3.20~9.01; Z=6.37, P<0.000 01]. Subgroup analysis: dysphagia subgroup [OR=4.88; 95%CI: 2.51~9.47; Z=4.68, P<0.000 01], aphasia subgroup [OR=6.26, 95%CI: 2.74~14.28; Z=4.36, P<0.000 1].
Conclusion Tongue tri-points therapy is obviously effective in the treatment of post-stroke pseudobulbar palsy and is worthy popularizing in clinical medicine.
