Abstract:

As a popular treatment of traditional Chinese medicine, the quantification of acupuncture treatment has been focused for years. Although classics literature has not yet been defined a clear idea of "quantification of acupuncture treatment", ancient physicians have been thinking about the influence of quantification of acupuncture in the curative effect of acupuncture treatment, which can be found from discussion of acupuncture manipulation, number of needles, duration of needle retaining and "De qi" of acupuncture. At present, some of those perspectives have been validated in medical experiments. This study synthesized the perspectives in classical literature and results of modern researches, showing the concept of "quantification of acupuncture" and its influencing factors. We hope that future researches of acupuncture can be inspired by perspectives in classics and get findings transcending these perspectives.
